Nuclear Room

Nuclear Power

Best Answer ViperSRT3g , 21 February 2013 - 02:57 PM

If you wire everything from the bottom, in the event of any sort of meltdown, all explosive force will be propelled downwards. If you have this built at the bottom of your underground lair, it makes things much easier. To get into the facility, you can also use layers of reinforced structure to sort of make a reinforced "onion" of sorts. Go to the full post »

Oh no not another one!

Yes, I am posing a question about nuclear reactors but slightly different type here. I can understand the basics of *how* to run my nuclear reactor and make it efficient but I'm a little concerned with how to best set up my power plant; let me explain my situation. First I have my base set up in layers going down into the ground dug out by my turtle and I have different floors for different purposes (i.e. machines, industrial furnace, magic related, etc.)

My next step here is to build a nuclear reactor room but I'm obviously concerned about the event of a meltdown and so I'm curious as to what you guys think is the best way of making a 9x9x9 room work for a nuclear reactor. I can always wire things in from the out side and/or make the room bigger should I need to but this is my starting point.

    Your help is appreciated!

Well, if you have done anything in Thaumcraft, maybe encase the reactor room with Warded blocks and a Warded Door? These are blocks that are completely impervious to explosions, including nuclear reactors. They are also relatively cheap to make, since you get a whopping 32 each time you craft them. I believe that there is also a Warded Glass block as well, but I'm not sure how to craft that.

I'm not a huge Thaumcraft guy but I'd be willing to get into it now that I know about this! Is this a higher tier block?

I have also made a few reinforced glass blocks and am considering making a bunch of reinforced stone but that requires a lot of resources and I am still not quite sure as to the layout of the room.

Eh, I would consider it a mid to high tier item. It requires you to have gotten past Unified Thaumic Field Theory, which is basically the halfway point. It's not too hard to get there, though.

Use a Thermal Monitor! That's a rather easy solution.
