I just went fishing, and it says fish have weights. What does that mean?

Weights usually mean the rarity, the heavier the weight the more common a fish is.

Under the name. I think they were fish from Aquaculture.

Then... it might be the actual weight of the fish, how heavy it is.

It could be used for a fishing contest? I'd think it's simply to allow Minecraft fishing to better simulate real-world fishing. Unless the weight contributes to total modular powersuit weight, or is used for the IC2 teleporter weight calculation.
