Sort of. I was thinking of a button that when pressed once lights up, and when pressed again turns off. It would be good to use with things like dispensers, which operate on pulses rather than constant power.

And I wouldn't mind new generation, as long as the ore isn't completely useless. Glares at XyCraft.

XyCraft's new update added the machines, so they are useful now \o/

While you're at it, can you add glowing dirt, stone and cobblestone as well?

Sure.

How? It's fine for me... the last time I tested.

Edit: They do work fine for me currently.

Its impossible for me to add mods to vannlla. I follow every step and it does't work

First of all, download the latest 1.4.7 Forge Universal version.
Then drag your files from the Forge Universal to your minecraft.jar using WinRAR or 7zip.
Then run Minecraft. It should say at the bottom-left "3 mods loaded".
Then it should create a mods folder.
Drag GlowTools (or whatever mod) into the mods folder,
Run Minecraft, and it should be installed.

This idea came to me, and ,while it might be hard to add, it would be awesome. Could you add an enchant to armor that, when worn, causes the player to give off low amounts of light? It could have 3 levels, light I (light of a redstone torch) light II (in between torch and redstone torch) and light III (same light as a torch).

I have tried this, didn't work.( but ill try it one more time re downloading eveything.)

Oh hey what i could do! Delete evey mod in the mod folder and put in glow tools.

Did you already have mods in your mods folder?

I think it would be cool to add decorated leaves. The leaves would be regular, but the texture would have little red, blue, white, and yellow lights, and it would give off some light. It would make it possible to create a small christmas tree in your house with tiny lights on it.

Glowing overflow!

I might add that, I might not. Thanks a lot for the suggestion though!

And I just released v0.2!

Also, I tried adding colours to the names of some items. They work, but the recompiler doesn't like them!

If you are going to have a mod that glows, then you may as well make it visible from space. There is no glow-verflow.

Yeah, I guess.

Anyhow, I made a SugarSync thing instead of using these built-in attachments!

So, I was working on a Vanilla-style spawner, and I came up with a brilliant idea.

Maybe add a door that doesn't let light through? Vanilla doors are nice and all, but they love to ruin the lighting of your spawners if you use them.

And another idea, I don't know if it would be easy or not, but maybe have the same door let light through only if it is open? And if it is possible, maybe add a trapdoor with the same properties? That could be a great idea for window shutters or something.

Yes, I know it's "GlowTools", but since it deals with light, it could spawn a whole other set of "Anti-GlowTools".

Thanks so much for making this! Also the Scepter of Regeneration Mk. II gives you Regen 5, but MineCraft only shows 'Regeneration'.

Also, Skidding Glows spawn naturally in packs of 2 to 6 in Extreme Hills (including Extreme Hills Edge) and Swamp biomes, and in the Nether and the End.

Also, you missed that you could craft Bottles O' Enchanting (and smelt them), but I didn't mention that in the thread, so I guess it's my fault. :P

You've also missed that you could clone Scepters of Light by right-clicking one on a Block of Diamond (I'll be changing that to a Block of Candentinium in the next update). I didn't put that in the thread either. Sorry! All of this is in the changelog though. When you download the zip, open it and you will see a Changelog file. You can read that. :)

I've added some stuff to the main thread thanks to this. :)

Again, thanks a lot, RZR0!

I'll probably make a new one in a bit, I noticed afterwards that my ingame sound was way too loud, but I normally record on Ultimate and this was on Lite for a change, so I could easily sandbox the mod.

  1. I was fiddling around for about five hours trying to get a Glowing Button to work, but it's not very trivial. I might implement it in the future (when I actually know more about Java Programming) but I'll have to hold off on that for now. Great idea though! :)
  2. What exactly do you mean by 'a button that when pressed once lights up, and when pressed again turns off'? Sounds an awful lot like a lever to me.

I think he meant a button that still gives a single redstone pulse, not an infinite one like a lever and each push also toggles the button's glow on or off.

Version 0.2a is out! Now for 1.5.

NOTE: To install this, you open the .zip, and there should be a folder, a changelog file and another zip file. You have to put the folder in .minecraft\bin\minecraft.jar\mods! If there isn't a mods folder there, create one. Then put the other zip in .minecraft\mods.

I don't know if there is a solution to this (hopefully there is), but for now this is how it will have to be how it will be.

This version might be quite finicky, so if you find any bugs, please tell me! Thanks.

Keep the suggestions coming!
