So when I checked my Thaumonomicon today I saw that all of my research is back to square one. I haven't had any crashes or anything recently so I don't know what the deal is.... Some of these issues are getting pretty frustrating but I don't know if I want to give up on the pack yet since I put a lot of time into this world. Maybe its saveable with a world backup, I haven't tried that yet.

Ive just been transitioning over to a new base so Ive mostly just been doing a lot of building. The last machines that I build were the bee genetic machines and then the typesetting table and printing press. Im not sure when exactly the research disappeared. Im in a single player world using the stock .18 version of the pack. This version has been a lot more stable then previous versions for me and I have had very few issues with it up until now.
Is it the player or level .dat file that saves the research info?

In singleplayer the player data is mainly saved in the level.dat, not in the player dat, so you can share worlds and not lose your inventory. However it is also mirrored to the player's dat so you can transfer the save onto a server. All of this couldn't really be the problem though, the data is always loaded from the level.dat and always saved into both the level.dat and the player dat, so there is no chance of data being accidentally overwritten...

Not sure why it disappeared but I rolled back the leval.dat files by a few days and my research is back.
