I noticed a lot of new people have tried to sign onto our server lately but keep getting this error. "You do not have FML installed, you cannot connect to this server". What is this?

This happens when people with a vanilla client (unmodded, without Forge Mod Loader) try to connect to a modded server. Nothing to worry about on your side

awesome thank you! I do have another question. I have people some how spawning in items by doing /recipe diamond <number>...How do I prevent this?

Are you using Essentials? I think that plugin adds a /recipe command to show an item's recipe in a crafting grid. That command may have become broken because of some mod, you should be able to disable it in the Essentials configuration or just remove permission to use it in whatever permission management plugin you are using.

I tried to remove access to that permission for said groups and it tells me they don't even have access to it
