I've just been checking in like a stalker, so I haven't been gone gone... Also, there's competitive Minecraft PVP? That seems kinda silly to be honest.

The pvp landscape is actually pretty big and competitive. I've played in Team PVP tournaments with over 1000 players (80 teams of about 15 each), 5 vs 5 Race for Wool gameplay, 1 vs 1 matches with an elo system. Really anything. I can share the links to a few good ones if anyone wants. The tournaments I like are the ones with a lot of strategizing. Teams get practice servers for a week before they face another team on a specific pvp map to plan out tnt cannons, positioning, and types of defenses. It's really amazing.

I've been looking at race for the wool maps but I don't like them, the wools are all premade!?!

I want maps where you are given two sheep and some seeds and you have to mine iron to make sheers and you need to bonemeal the ground for flowers and mine for lapis and grow some cacti and kill some squid and etc.

They don't have to be wool. They can be any ol' block if they want. Race for the Ore, Race for the Stained Glass, whatever. A map like you mentioned would be very similar if multiple maps were made -- so much so that it would become boring after a few maps. RftW places the blocks strategically in different places so that every map, each puzzle and even every experience is different, removing all the familiarly tedious crafting scenes -- scenes where you dig a hole in the ground, plop down a crafting table, and just sit there for five minutes crafting a bunch of stuff, where no action can happen. Remember, RftW is also about PvP -- bows & arrows, TNT cannons, creeper cannons (?!)...

Yeah... I don't see the problem here, it would be exactly like the regular maps are except a single grass block would be a reward somewhere to turn a bunch of dirt into grass to bonemeal flowers, lapis would be a reward somewhere, water would be a reward somewhere to make squid spawn, etc.

 

It is exactly the same with an additional difficulty.

You can still have PvP in this, nothing is stopping the PvP except for it being more difficult.

And it would be more 'camp here until I get what I need'-y farming stuff. You could block yourself off, making it impossible for the other team to shoot you.

RftW requires action. Most of the stuff happens where people can shoot at you, and it's more exciting. In yours you can sit in a hole and hold down right-click for five minutes. If you find that exciting, then that's fine by me. But most people don't.

If you're hunting and gathering for very long in RFW, then you're doing something wrong.
