New install, new world, 100% CPU - unusable. Help!

Hi,

I've just bought Minecraft, just downloaded the FTB launcher, and started the Direwolf20 1,7 modpack.

 

I created a brand new world, and it's completely unusable. My PC is running at basically 100% CPU, lag is totally unplayable. The pack is "Direwolf20 (v1.3.1) Minecraft Version 1.7.10".

 

My PC is pretty new and powerful - Core i5-3570K, 4 cores, 16GB RAM. I'm running Windows 8.1 64-bit. Graphics card is AMD Radeon 7800 with 1GB video RAM. It runs every other game I've tried flawlessly.

 

Can anyone suggest what might be wrong? I really only bought Minecraft intending to use mods, so I'm pretty stuck at the moment :-(

Hmm, never mind. Apparently the default settings for memory allocated to Java are too small, that's all it was.
