World Interaction Upgrade, Extra Utilities

Someone wrote this statement on the page:

An item transfer node containing at least one World Interaction Upgrade will attempt to pick up nearby dropped
items, doing so even through solid walls. This is especially useful for use in mob grinders or other
applications where dropped items need to be collected from an hostile area.

I tested this in game and it doesn't work, not with items my Toon dropped, works only with mob drops or is this wrong?

It could be that it used to work like that? That upgrade is a fairly recent addition.
