I have made the stones and stuff and put them in the right configuration with the chalk, but when I clock on the center block (I can't remember the name for it ) with my weak activation crystal when my sword is dropped it doesn't go anything, I have enough life essence I think.

According to our article, the ritual will consume 5,000LP from your soul network, but requires 10,000LP to be available before you can activate it. If that's not your issue, then it would have to be that the stone are placed incorrectly. Have you tried using the Ritual Diviner rather than placing and coloring the stones manually?
