Anyone know the spawn conditions for the soul sand chicken in SF3?

 

Its the only nether chicken I don't have but I have no idea how to get it to spawn, I've searched about 3 fortresses and I can only find nether quartz chickens. The blazes are not making it easy in the slightest

 

I have made a 16x16 area separate from the portal but that still hasn't worked even when I'm covering it with soul sand. The only thing its doing is spawning Ghasts

I believe they spawn like the other Nether chickens. I found one on a nether fortress

Ah yep, I think it was because I lit up the entire fortress. I removed all the torches and went hunting again, after about an hour I found a group of around 6 so I grabbed one and ran.

 

I didn't realise they spawned in fortresses, Thank you for your help
