When the server starts, it runs out of memory. You need to allocate more memory to your server. Make sure not to allocate more than what's available to you, as this can cause bugs and/or more crashes, I think.

Just a side note, my FTB server while idling with no players online already uses 1.1GB of RAM. I'd recommend getting a server that provides at least 4GB of RAM.

I'd say probably. Do you know how much RAM the hosting service claims is available to your server? Also, which hosting service are you using?

If upgrading the plan increases the RAM and there's no other way of doing it, that's probably what you will have to do to get the server to work.

FYI, you may not be utilizing all the memory available to you by default. When my hosting service set up my FTB server, they allocated it 1GB of the 4GB from my plan. I went in through the config to raise it to a workable level.

The error log shows the java parameter "-Xmx1024M", so he got 1GB allocated out of 1GB available.

How can you tell his plan makes 1GB available? As I said, my plan had 4GB available, but launched Minecraft with -Xmx1024M so only 1GB was allocated.

because it doesn't say -Xms1024M.

Even though the server have more RAM, he is getting 1GB, because the Xmx switch determines the maximum RAM allowed to be allocated, and is set by the provider.

The Xms switch determines the initial allocation of RAM.

Example: -Xmx2048M -Xms1024M

Here the JVM is allocated 1GB initally, but as the JVM runs and needs more memory, it can allocate more RAM, up to 2GB.

Ah, a miscommunication, then. By "available RAM", I meant the amount of RAM the server has, not the amount the JVM is being allowed to use.

Edit: By "the server", I mean only the partition of the physical server which he has access to. If he's using a host of any decent quality, he'll have access to a private slice of a larger server (unless he pays significantly more for his own dedicated machine), and Minecraft will be run within that slice. I don't see how you could tell the amount of RAM the physical server permits that slice to use; the -Xmx1024M should be configurable, and only tells us that the slice is permitting the JVM to use 1GB under his current configuration.

Yes, it is configurable, by the provider. And should be set according to the plan you are subscribed to.

In your case in your previous posts, it sounds like your provider allocated you -Xmx1024M, but you were paying for it to be set at -Xmx4096M. I don't see any scenario were you are allowed to change this value yourself. Because the only thing you yourself is doing then, is limiting your limited RAM even further.

If I were running 2 different Minecraft servers on my rented server space, I wouldn't want each to be trying to use the entire memory, so I'd configure each to use about half.

That true. However, you are then limiting each instance to 50% each of your allocated CPU slot, so I wouldn't do it.
