I can understand why we have them, but do we need so many? Most aren't even used.
I think we should delete like two thirds of these and then create a new one called Other.
Thoughts?

Maybe (if possible) the entire legacy categories could be added to a main category entiitled Legacy?Maybe keep the currently supported/up-to-date modpacks (Unleashed, Unhinged, DW20-1.5, Ampz) separate and make two categories for legacy FTB and legacy third-party? Although it would be a bit annoying when modpacks get discontinued, as then the topics would have to be moved into the legacy forums...

Well the unused categories would be hidden in the Legacy category so no one would see it unless they went directly to the Legacy category.
Yes, if possible.Oh, so you mean leaving the active ones subforums, and making a subforum "Legacy" with the legacy packs as sub-subforums?
That depends on how it is coded, I haven't usually seen subsubcategories before that show up though but that is kind of what I was hoping, our current setup has a ton of unused categories all over the place.Would these then still appear on the forums index? Because in that case it would essentially be pointless. If not that would be a good idea.
Tiny necro, but if you decide to make one called "Other" for the outdated packs, could you also add one that says "Custom" for us that runs custom private packs? This to avoid confusion about whats considered "Other".

As far as I understand it the category was going to be called "Legacy", which is rather straightforward. I don't think that custom private packs should have their own sections, as the community of those who use them is usually quite small. It would be good to make an exception for the 152wgt/ngt packs though, they once were public and are still widely known and used.

The official FTBWiki.org server uses it too =bAs far as I understand it the category was going to be called "Legacy", which is rather straightforward. Because they are only beta packs I don't think we need subsubcategories for each individual beta pack.So the "forum tree" would look like this:
Modpacks
|- FTB Unleashed
|- FTB Unhinged
|- etc.
|- Beta
. |- 152wgt/ngt
. |- FTB Beta Pack A
. |- etc.
|- Legacy
. |- FTB Ultimate
. |- YogCraft
. |- etc.
PS:
Like all othe forum software, this one also doesn't like spaces as the first thing in a line.
That would be good, but if you are looking for posts on a specific pack, then they might be hard to find. And add a section for private packs if you weren't counting that as third party.
Ehh, the beta packs aren't even meant to be used too much anyways. That would be good, but if you are looking for posts on a specific pack, then they might be hard to find. And add a section for private packs if you weren't counting that as third party.
Yes, this entirely.I don't quite see the need to separate FTB and third-party packs on the forums. Regarding private packs, these should only get a section if the code is publicly known. Having people discussing a pack which most others can't use is not great.
