I'm currently writing an application that can create animated PNG files. I created an animation of the Lathe's progress indicator with it. Seeing as APNG is really only supported by Firefox, I've saved it as a gif and optimized it to ~600bytes. I added the animation to the Lathe template I added earlier this week to the wiki. I was just wondering what you guys think about it? Is it a good addition or too distracting? You can see an example here: http://ftbwiki.org/Tungsten_Rod

I like it, though I'm not sure of the benefit, and at first it is slightly distracting. I'd imagine for some pages such as http://ftbwiki.org/Sulfur_Dust if all the templates were animated it'd start getting really bad.

All in all I'm not sure it's worth the effort.

I really like it! Not even sure why, but I definitely prefer watching the animated progress bar.

I could slow down the animation, that might make it less distracting?

I was thinking perhaps just make it slightly greyer. The bright white is what makes it quite intense.

That's what the animation looks like in Minecraft, it seems pointless to add it if we're going to change it...

I know it does, but if it's distracting in the context of the wiki then it shouldn't be implemented.

I think that making it slightly less obtrusive is good, and it hardly matters if it's not exactly the same. Just an idea anyway.

We should wait for more opinions before making any changes.

It looks quite nice IMO, not really distracting. Although I have no idea how it would be to have 12 furnaces animated on a large recipe list...

Let's try and animate it then! *looks at RZR0*

I think it's quite good. There isn't really much information on that example page anyway, as it's really just a 'crafting recipe item'. I don't find it particularly distracting personally.

I am imagining it would be more distracting on a page with multiple machine templates, rather than just the one on the example, but we'd have to see it really.

Also, I've just noticed that the font of the eu, time, and maxenergy values on that tungsten rod page are showing in Times new roman for me, rather than the standard MC font used for the labels. It looks rather odd... Is anyone else seeing that too, or is it just me?

I had that problem at some point, but not anymore... or maybe it's specific to one template.

Seems like IE doesn't support the minecraftia font. Chrome works fine, but IE doesn't on both PC's.

Anti-joke chicken: because, when developing content for the web, one must consider how it will appear to users of all of the major browsers.

I was about to, um, "kindly ask" as well. Excuse accepted.
