So I've heard that it's really simple to install gregtech along w ftb unleashed.  But when I did what I thought I was supposed to do, the game didn't load.  No error, no crash, just sat there on a black screen.  So how exactly do I install it?  I like the idea of a really challenging game, so I want to do gregtech w vanilla tool recipies disabled via tinkers in HC mode.

Make sure that your GregTech is for the correct version (1.5.2). If it is, I've just found this:

http://www.reddit.co...hinged_configs/

You should just be able to copy all of that and replace all the files in Unleashed/minecraft/config with those.

Nevermind that, it won't work unless you're playing Unleashed v1.1.1 to v1.1.3. If you are, that's great, but if you aren't and you're really determined, you can (hopefully), in 20 simple steps, simply:

  1. Force update Unleashed (go to the Launcher, select Unleashed, click the Options tab at the top and click 'Force update?').
  2. Open up any world.
  3. Go to your NEI options (open your inventory and click the 'Options' button on the bottom-left; if it isn't there, press 'O' while in your inventory).
  4. Click 'Block/Item ID Settings'.
  5. Click 'Dump ID Map Now'; a bit of text should show up in the chat showing the name of the .txt file.
  6. Exit the game.
  7. Go to the '/Unleashed/minecraft' folder.
  8. Find the file that you just created. Should be something like 'IDMap dump 23-10-2013 at 18.43.11.31.txt. Open the file.
  9. Scroll down the file and you should find some IDs that are unused: should look like 'Block. Unused ID: 409'. Don't close the file.
  10. Open up the FTB Launcher, choose Unleashed and click 'Edit Mod Pack'.
  11. Make sure you're on the 'Mods' tab and not the 'JarMods' or 'CoreMods'.
  12. Click 'Add Mod' on the bottom-right of the box and find the location of your GregTech, select it and click 'Open'.
  13. Select it again from the right-hand side and click '<< Enable'. Close the 'Add Mod' box.
  14. Launch Unleashed.
  15. If it gets to the black screen, close Unleashed and check if there's a folder in '/Unleashed/minecraft/config' called 'GregTech'. If there is, great! If there isn't, I'm sorry but maybe someone else here will be able to help. :)
  16. From the GregTech folder, open 'BlockItemIDs.cfg' with something like Notepad, WordPad or Notepad++.
  17. You should see something like this:

    # Configuration file

    # Generated on 10/23/13 7:02 PM

  18. Now look at the Dump file you created earlier. Find some "Block. Unused ID"s and change those numbers in the GregTech config file to any ones that are unused. DO NOT change numbers in the dump file; that won't do anything. Change them in the GregTech config. Also make sure that the numbers you're changing the BLOCKS to are unused IDs above ID 256 and below 4096. Make sure that the numbers you're changing ITEMS to are unused IDs above ID 4096 and below 32768 (I think). I don't know where you can get the ID map for Items (maybe someone else here knows), but I think IDs 4096-4200 should be free. It is, at least, for Unleashed 1.1.3 (and 152wgt v0.7, but that's beside the point), and I haven't updated yet (I have a mini-server for me and a couple friends, and I haven't bothered to update it).

  19. Save the GregTech config file and exit.

  20. Run Unleashed and hopefully it should work!

If that doesn't work, can you post the log please? It should be at '/Unleashed/minecraft/ForgeModLoader-client-0.log'.

If you want to use gregtech, why would you use unleashed when unhinged was made for another version of unleashed with gregtech?

Many of the mods we all know and love from previous FTB packs (e.g. Thaumcraft, Soul Shards, Tinkers' Construct, GraviSuite) are not in Unhinged.

That would make it hard, which was his goal.

No... that would just take away some fun things to play around with from us...

Heck, Advanced Solar Panels is missing.

Depends.  Some people would like the challenge of not having that many mods,  haven't you heard of ForgeCraft3?

And if that were the case, they'd play Unhinged. But clearly they wanted to play Unleashed, with GregTech.

Yep.

And anyway ForgeCraft 3 is kinda off topic. It doesn't have GregTech.

Great guide for resolving ID conflicts ZL123, that sort of information should be on the wiki somewhere (if it isn't already).

So...Somewhat related. You can't add gregtech into an already generated world, can you? I assume not, since it adds tons of ores, but correct me if I'm wrong.

You can add it, but you'd need to explore new terrain or new mystcraft ages to find the gregtech ores. There's no retro-worldgen to add the ores to generated terrain.

Damn. Was hoping you wouldn't say that. Figures though. So that means I'll have those obvious chunk borders when I explore new terrain, I assume?

Probably not, as GT only adds ores. Mods that add major terrain features or biomes cause those.

By the way, even if GT had such a post-generation feature, you wouldn't want to use it if you did much on the world. RedPower 2 had such a feature, which sometimes caused housed made out of smooth stone to have ores and marble.

Well, thankfully my house is made out of wood. So you're saying it should be okay to add in gregtech, and won't fuck up generation?

Please don't swear.

I'm just saying that even if such a feature exists, it may not be a good idea to use it. Possibly that's also the reason why GT doesn't even have such a feature.
