Hello everyone,

I'm new to the minecraft modding community so please bear with my ignorance.

I'm looking to easily switch the direction of a pipe or have a system set up to essentially "flip a switch" and change which chest items end up in. Is there currently a way to do this with the Feed The Beast Unleashed mod packs? If so what should I look into in order to build such a device. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!

-TrupaJay

Why not use iron pipes?

Is there a way to set up iron pipes to send everything to a specific location? Easily switched with a lever/button?

I think iron pipes change with a wrench

Buildcraft's Iron pipes send anything that enters them out in a single direction, which you can choose using a wrench. Applying a redstone signal changes the direction, though I've not done any testing on what direction it chooses when a signal is applied.

Edit: A nice way to use this is in conjunction with buildcraft's iron/gold/diamond gates and pipe wire, which can detect certain conditions and apply the redstone signal accordingly. It's unclear what you're overall goal is, so I'll ask: have you looked into the Diamond transport pipe? It allows you to filter items as they transfer through the pipe, sending different items in different directions.

Iron pipes change direction every time a signal is applied or disconnected, and they will never switch to face Wooden Pipes. That way you can have a wooden pipe through which items come in, then immediately an iron pipe, which can then be switched between two directions using a redstone signal.

Ah good so then yes iron pipes can use a redstone connection connecting to a lever to switch back and forth the direction!

I've tried Diamond pipes but it looks like I need to look into Iron pipes.

Thanks for all the replies!!! This will help me out a lot. I appreciate all the help! I'll test some of that out and let you know what I end up using.

Diamond pipes are nice, but they're mostly an item filter ("these items go this way") rather than just a router ("everything goes this way") like iron pipes.

And yeah, pipe wire and gates are nice.

If you're looking to make it so that you can swap to another chest if one gets full you might want to look into pneumatic piping, it automatically detects full chests and doesn't send items to them.

Except, pneumatic tubes are from Redpower 2, which isn't available in Unleashed. Preventing overflow is easy enough with the iron pipe and some gates (gate to emit pipe signal when chest is full, gate to change the iron pipe when it receives pipe signal), though the Insertion Pipe would work better for that, as long as the junction is adjacent to the chest.

Just so I'm not beating my head against the wall can anyone give me some tips to hook this up to a Redstone/Bultricity system to eventually be controlled by one lever or button?

Pretty sure that blutricity is also Redpower 2 which is not being updated anymore.

Well, there will be a way.

As of Buildcraft 4.0.0 and later, the Daizuli Pipe and Lapis Pipe exist. These will be able to do pretty much exactly what you wanted.

4.0.0 is only for 1.6 though. Just be patient. FTB will be updated. :)

I know there's a type of pipe that my friend was using to help prevent my honeycomb/centrifuge system from overflowing... they won't put items in full containers; they'll keep moving them.

I can't exactly get on to get the name, though. Launcher's broken. :( I think they were some kind of Logistics pipe though.

Actually buildcraft pipes will no longer place items into a full container if it has another path it can take.

Oh yes, I forgot about that.

Also Insertion Pipes will immediately and automatically place items in the adjacent inventory if it has space. If it is full, it will continue down the pipeline. But it's guaranteed to go in the adjacent inventory if there's space.

lol likely because of how much people liked how pneumatic tubes did that.
