Hi,

Complete noob. Downloaded game yesterday but can't get the recipe subset menu to show with the NEI mod options. What am I doing wrong??

Recipe subset?

Did you mean you wanted to see the recipe for a specific item, and it doesn't work?

Or were items missing from the list?

Or could you not see NEI at all?

Don't have the items showing on the right hand side. When been looking at videos they all have a big box with all the items and recipes and a text box at bottom. I don't have either of these, just the options box bottom left with settings for NEI

Does pressing O hide the Options?

Click the "Options" button and click the "NEI Disabled" button. It should turn into "NEI Enabled" and the item list should appear once you close the options.

The NEI is enabled already, got the check for updates on too not sure

And yes pressing o hides the options bar too

That's strange. Do you get the Prev and Next buttons that you normally use to flip through the pages of the item list? In that case you may just have to wait a bit for NEI to load the list.

Sorted, needed to change my GUI settings to large from auto, list was hiding out of sight!!
