Im trying to make the unbreakable pickaxe but obsidian plates wont add as a modifier. Ive tried 3 different picks

Obsidian Head/ThaumBinding/PaperRod

Obsidian Head/PaperBind/PaperRod

Obsidian Head/PaperBind/ThaumRod

It also wont add to any other tool I have made in Tinkers. Any suggestions why this not working?

That's the wrong obsidian plate. You need to add the Large Obsidian Plate from Tinker's Construct (created in a part builder), not an IC2 obsidian plate.
