Nei shows the use of a nightvision goggles with the power crystal and 4 carbon plates to make this item, however it isn't working for me to craft it. did it change recently? need one of these on my path to quantum armor.

The recipe must be placed in the bottom two rows of the crafting grid to work. Why? No idea, but that's what my testing revealed.

didn't seem to work in the bottom 2, but i tried to power the goggles and crystal earlier just as an idea, didn't work of course but may be the reason it isn't working in the bottom 2 rows now...
is there a way to remove power from them?

IC2 calls for a specific metadata energy crystal for certain recipes. May want to check if that's the reason why it won't work it may not be the crystal it's wanting. The numbers after the colon are mainly the important part. Charging and discharging the crystals in an mfsu will change the metadata based on their charge level.

interesting, thanks, i'll try and figure that out, but how do i get the energy out of the crystal to fine tune it?
edit: answered my own question, bottom slot of the mfe. charging or un-charging it doesn't seem to come up with the 32767# after the dash however.
is it made a different way somehow? hrm...

If it needs to be discharged put it in the bottom slot if a machine or storage

nice that i know now how to discharge the items, but wholly irritating that i spent so much time gathering and crafting only to be stumped by meta data nonsense. /NSA stole my nano hat

Hmm. The recipe calls for :27 so that should be hot out of the compressor never being charged or discharged.

In that case you could just go into cheat mode, trash the broken crystal, get a :27 one and use that. Or trash the goggles components and give yourself the goggles. Either way should be okay, after all you're technically trading the items in for others, and after all it's just a bug.

Read dgelessus' answer above. This should work if it's singleplayer, LAN or if you're an admin on a server.
