I noticed recently that in attempting to convert EU to RF, I was losing waaaaaay more power than I should have been. I was wondering if anyone here can verify that I'm not just nuts, or that this is perhaps a known issue. The following was my initial setup:

MFSU -> Glass Fibre Cable -> UV Consumer -> Energy Bridge -> RF Producer -> Leadstone Energy Conduit -> Tesseract Pair -> Leadstone Energy Conduit -> Quarry

Everything runs in this setup, but I noticed that the Energy Bridge was reporting an output of 80RF/t (limited by the Conduit, yes?) while my MFSU seems to be draining at max rate (2048EU/t). I went ahead and bypassed the MFSU and ran straight from my solar farm, which can only supply 192EU/t currently, and observed that the Energy Bridge still reported 80RF/t output, and the quarry was still running at the same speed. So, it appears to be drawing 2048EU/t, but it definitely isn't using it.

In creative mode, I as able to verify that all the following setups also experience this same problem: 2048EU/t is being drawn when only a small fraction is being used.

MFSU -> Glass Fibre Cable -> UV Consumer -> Energy Bridge -> RF Producer -> Redstone Energy Cell (10000RF/t Input)

MFSU -> Glass Fibre Cable -> UV Consumer -> Energy Bridge -> RF Producer -> Redstone Energy Cell (100RF/t Input)

MFSU -> Glass Fibre Cable -> UV Consumer -> Energy Bridge -> RF Producer -> Redstone Energy Cell (80RF/t Input)

MFSU -> Glass Fibre Cable -> UV Consumer -> Energy Bridge -> RF Producer -> Redstone Energy Cell (5RF/t Input)

MFSU -> Glass Fibre Cable -> EU Adapter -> Redstone Energy Cell (10000RF/t Input)

MFSU -> Glass Fibre Cable -> EU Adapter -> Redstone Energy Cell (100RF/t Input)

MFSU -> Glass Fibre Cable -> EU Adapter -> Redstone Energy Cell (80RF/t Input)

MFSU -> Glass Fibre Cable -> EU Adapter -> Redstone Energy Cell (5RF/t Input)

MFSU -> Glass Fibre Cable -> UV Consumer -> Energy Bridge -> MJ Producer -> Refinery

Additionally, removing the "load" devices that are drawing power, in all of the above setups, correctly drops the power draw from the MFSU to 0. Also, reducing the Redstone Energy Cell Input limit to 0RF/t also stops the draw.

If I had to guess, I'd say it seems like the converters (either Energy Bridge or EU Adapter) are pulling 2048 EU packets from the MFSU every tick, using just a few EU from each packet, and then throwing away the rest, when they should be requesting 2048 EU packets only when there's more than 2048 EU of space in the internal buffer. Or is "packets" not even a valid way to talk about EU anymore. I know they've re-worked the EU system since MC 1.5.x.

Anyway, can anyone else confirm this behavior, or shed any light on this situation?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I also tried swapping the UV Consumer for an EV Consumer. Same thing.

What my friend does is that he uses rednet energy cables from Minefactory Reloaded and runs it from his solar panels from IC2 to his hardened energy cell. Apparently it just directly converts it. He doesn't use fancy machines.
