As for traincaft, it's true that other mods can do most of the duties that TC does, but some of us like the asthetics of having actual trains rolling down our tracks. When you spend a lot of time and effort building elaborate rail systems with bridges and stations to stop at, I don't know about you, but a line of mine carts on the track seems a bit lacking. I personally like the look of a steam train chugging by my factory with a line of cars in tow. It's not a deal breaker, but I do miss look of it.
