singleplayer.
its back to normal though. in the ten minutes it took me to figure out how to attach a picture the entity count went back down to normal. the weird thing is though, when i stopped playing last night, the entity count was at a reasonable number and as soon as i started the game today it was like that.

i logged on to ftb unleashed today to find the worst lag ive ever seen. naturally i did f3 to check the entities, and i found that i had over 19,000 entities. i barely have any chunks loaded and my forestry config has butterflies to stop spawning naturally after 25 and to stay in item form after 25.
why do i have so many entities? the lag is so bad that the game is unplayable.
After switching to peaceful I still have over 16k entities.

You should really check if your storage areas are still intact. This sounds like something (machine? engine? reactor?) blew up a lot of containers, which created 19k items lying about. These despawn after 10 minutes, so that's why everything is normal again.

Items despawn after 5 minutes.

Items despawn after 5 minutes.
Add a whole lot of lag and you get 10 minutes

Heheh.
But since he was not looking at FTB, it would have gone before 10 minutes was up.
