So, I just noticed an edit on a page that basically just changed the spelling of Armor to Armour. While obviously the whole Aluminum/Aluminium mess is dependent on if the mod maker used American or British English, for such general use terms on the wiki should we really prefer one or the other?

What English is this wiki using?

That won't work too well now but from what I've seen we've been leaning towards more American English rather than English English.

Was about to post about this as well... yeah, we've basically been using AE all the time. We should put that in the style guide.
As for item names, there's not too much we could do to clarify that, except for a youmay, which we already have.

For Xycraft and one of the other mods' Aluminum because (at the time) there was only two we settled for naming one of them aluminum and the other aluminium.

I was actually saying that with items we'll use whatever they are named in the mod. For example in the Power Armor mod the item name uses American English so all instances of the world armor in that article should use American English. For Aluminium we'd still refer to it as Aluminium in the article.
In this case I was referring to the Imp Hide article, which is used to make Imp Hide Armor but none of the items it makes actually has the word armor in it. So in this case it seems we need to agree what to use for general use.
I've obviously been using American English, but regardless of my nationality I believe the official minecraft wiki as well as perhaps Minecraft itself (I don't remember if the world armor appears or not) use it. So I agree that we should probably formalize this in the style guide.

I think we should use US English, if anything, the majority of visitors are from the US.

Honestly, having a certain English doesn't really matter, it's the same definition just slightly different letters, and it can still be understood.
But... If we're going to regulate the English used we might as well use American English due to their pre-dominance.

Yeah, the only reason I brought this up was because an anonymous user went out of their way to change an article that used American English spellings to British English. While I don't think this should be strictly enforced, it would be pointless to allow an edit war where people are just switching the spellings to their preferred version of English.

Exactly, edit wars WOULD happen, most Americans don't know why that u is there sometimes lolYeah, the only reason I brought this up was because an anonymous user went out of their way to change an article that used American English spellings to British English.
