Hello guys! I'm making a mod called GlowTools, and has a few things to it, and you can find most of them in the spoiler below. Definitely feel free to leave suggestions! So here are all my current mod versions. I hope you enjoy it and please don't stop giving me suggestions! The latest version is v0.4.0a for Minecraft 1.5.2. Please post any bugs you find on this thread! Also please look at how to install this before you do, especially if installing v0.2a. Definitely feel free to make a mod spotlight!
Also, GlowTools is now available on GitHub!
How to install:
This is how to install GlowTools v0.2a.
- Make sure you have the appropriate version of Minecraft. GlowTools v0.2a uses Minecraft 1.5, and GlowTools v0.3 uses Minecraft 1.5.1.
- Download the latest Universal Forge version for 1.5 from here or here (some of the downloads from the second link will still be in testing, so they might well contain some bugs).
- Open up your .minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar. To open minecraft.jar, use WinRAR, 7zip or a similar program.
- Open the Forge .zip file you downloaded, select all the files in there (Ctrl+A) and drag them to the minecraft.jar.
- Run Minecraft, and once it's on the main menu, it should say (at the bottom-left) Minecraft Forge, Minecraft Coder Pack and FML (and along with them, their versions). This means it works! Close Minecraft.
- Download GlowTools v0.2a from this link.
- Once it's finished, open the GlowTools <version>.zip, and you should see another GlowTools <version>.zip, a changelog.txt file and a folder called glowTools. Open the minecraft.jar again, make a folder called "mods" if there isn't already one, open it, and drag the glowTools folder into it.
- Go back to the .minecraft folder and open .minecraft/mods and drag the GlowTools v0.2a.zip (the one inside the other one ) into it.
- The changelog.txt is for you to read, and I recommend you do if you've installed this before.
- Run Minecraft again, and if you installed the mod correctly, it should also say (at the bottom-left) GlowTools, or if it doesn't, click on the 'Mods' button and it should say GlowTools. Click on that and it should display some information about the mod. You're now ready to start playing this (wondrous) mod!
This is how to install all GlowTools versions except GlowTools v0.2a.
- Make sure you have 1.4.7, not an earlier or later version.
- Download the latest Universal Forge version for 1.4.7 here.
- Open up your .minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar. To open minecraft.jar, use WinRAR, 7zip or a similar program.
- Open the Forge files, select all the files (Ctrl+A) and drag them to the minecraft.jar.
- Run Minecraft, and once it's on the main menu, it should say (at the bottom-left) Minecraft Forge, Minecraft Coder Pack and FML (and along with them, their versions). This means it works! Close Minecraft.
- Download the desired GlowTools version from this link.
- Once it's finished, open your .minecraft/mods and drag the .zip folder into it.
- Run Minecraft again, and if you installed the mod correctly, it should also say (at the bottom-left) GlowTools, or if it doesn't, click on the 'Mods' button and it should say GlowTools. You've installed this mod correctly! Yay.
Some things about the Mod:
I have two blocks, the Glowing Iron Block and Red Iron Block. They, apparently, are impervious to TNT.
I have a set of Glowing Iron tools and a set of Red Iron tools.
There exists a mystical Scepter which brings forth light, which you can also clone by right-clicking with it in hand on a Block of Candentinium (Block of Diamond in v0.2 and before).
There is also another Scepter which regenerates your health, which you can upgrade into a better version (Regen V!).
You can obtain a Cloak of Invisibility!
There are more Glowing Blocks too...
There is Candentinium and Calcite.
Glowing Grass spawns naturally in certain chunks.
You can also craft Bottles o' Enchanting/Experience Potions, which you can smelt to give you more Experience Potions! Basically, when you take the Experience Potions out, you're almost guaranteed to get XP from it, so you can get quite easy almost-free Experience.
