I can't get my computer to open up files correctly (CoughCoughwithoutwordCoughCough) and IDK how to change the settings.
NVM I figured that out. However, I don't know which file viewer to use that'll work well for changing IDs... Help!

What can programs properly open up .class files? (for windows 7)

.class files are java program files and require coding software such as eclipse to open. All configs are .cfg or .txt file extensions and can be edited with any text editor. ~Rawrz

In any case, prob right click, open with, choose default progran, then if its there choose it if not find it using the explorer there

You can open the .jars with winzip but be careful not to corrupt em

For block ids open nei click options and block id settings and dump em. Itll put it in the folder of the pack

Huh. That'll fix all of them? If I can't load the world, though, how will I access NEI? do I do it from the computer, or the game, that is?

Just a quick note about "opening" class files. They are compiled Java bytecode, which is a format containing very basic program instructions and is generally not readable by an average human. Some class files can be run as a program when written as such, but this generally isn't the case.
There are ways to decompile class files (e. g. javap in the command prompt), which will return a bunch of information with limited use. If you really wanted to you could reconstruct the source code for a class file from such data, but generally you don't need to do such things. Thus even applications like Eclipse won't be able to get much useful information out of a class file.
And yeah, to fix IDs and change settings use the .cfg and other files in the config folder, don't even try doing that by manipulating class files
