I can't move pages. My preferences page says I'm autoconfirmed (which I am), and it's generally considered standard practice for registered users to be able to move pages.

Hello!
You're correct, regular users indeed cannot move pages. We kept this configuration as it was standard for wikia ((where we were previously located)), and haven't really considered changing it yet. Regular contributors can receive the "Contributor" status which grants them the ability to move pages in addition to rollback and delete rights.
If you think autoconfirmed users should also be able to move pages, we can definitely discuss that. In the meantime, you can either use a redirect or mark a page for deletion by adding "{{delete}}" at the top of a page.
Thanks, and hope to see you around!

Say the names of a couple of admins or contributors, make your request and state your reasons.
e.g guest_347:RZR0,Arstja,gerbalb_,fel: i need page x moved to y because the in game name changed in the latest patch.

You could just copy and past.
please do not create duplicate articles, as Artsja said, make a new page and leave a #Redirect newpagename or {{Delete}}

You should never use copy-paste to move an article, it segments the edit history, which violates the Creative Commons license used for contributions on the wiki. If you don't have the permissions to use the built-in page move function, it would probably be best to contact someone who can move the page properly. Do we have a template for suggested moves, that can be placed on pages which ought to be moved?

I disagree, I can't say that I am aware of many wikis that allow regular users to move articles and the one that I am aware of that allows this (The Adventure Time Wikia) suffers from several seemingly random vandal moving sprees a day.generally considered standard practice for registered users to be able to move pages.
It is safer to limit the users who are able to move articles.
Good idea, go make one.You should never use copy-paste to move an article, it segments the edit history, which violates the Creative Commons license used for contributions on the wiki. We need to make default article pages! Discuss their designs here!
