Can't swim in Oil

Does anyone know what the supposed behavior for player <-> oil puddle interaction is? ^^

At the moment i can only swim very slowly while in oil and can't swim upwards at all, so it is kind of a trap.

Although i thought that the last time i took a dive, i just received some debuff and could swim in it like in water.

Or am I getting things mixed up?

 

This strange behavior also just occured with me trying out Tinker's Construct's Travellers Boots with the Water Walking Upgrade. Maybe something got mixed up?

 

(playing a shrinked FTBDirewolf20 1.7.10)

I believe that the oil was working as intended. I'm not sure if it was an update to Buildcraft that changed the behaviour of oil, or if another mod is adding oil that acts as you described, but I've seen recent videos on youtube where the players were similarly trapped in oil, unable to swim out.

Yeah, oil does trap you.

 

Two ways I escaped though:

 

Crafting my crafting station into a slab-sized crafting station

Having a jetpack!
