OK. So a while ago, I made my first Minium Stone and began playing around with it. Everything I tried worked fine. I set up an enderman spawner for the purpose of farming enderpearls to turn into iron. I got the setup working, and it all worked perfectly well (I was using the automatic crafting table mk. II). I then decided that I needed to move the setup to a different place in my base, so I dismantled it. When I set it back up, the recipe of one enderpearl and the Minium Stone no longer worked! I tried re-logging and all that, of course, but nothing was fixed. I tried making new minium stones, but that didn't work either. Further experimentation has lead me to believe that all of the transmutations to more valuable stuff (iron to gold, iron to enderpearls, gold to diamonds...) work, but the transmutation to less valuable stuff (diamond to gold, gold to iron, enderpearls to iron...) no longer work. I am at a loss... any help?

 

Oh, it might also be pertinent that this is in a singleplayer world with the Ultimate pack.

 

I have no idea whether I'm just being a noob, or if this is a bug, or what... but I couldn't find anyone else talking about it...

Interesting. I'm suddenly seeing the same thing in my Direwolf20 Pack server, but I figured it had something to do with minium stone damage values and the XyCraft Fabricator I was using. When I get the chance, I'll investigate some more to see what's happened. The recipe still shows up in NEI, it just wouldn't craft in the Fabricator.

Exactly. The recipe still shows up in the NEI menu. I'm not exactly good with figuring this kind of stuff out, so i'm pretty much out of ideas, but if you figure it out, please let me know!

UPDATE: Today, when I logged in to my world, the recipe worked for about two minutes, then disappeared again. (I have my setup with Enderpearls done, so when the recipe worked, a made a chest full of iron, and then it stopped again...)

same thing with me the minium stone gets durability then acts brand new then i cant craft happened with my sapphire pickaxe

Just try shift-clicking where the output should be. This happens to me as well, yet it is still possible to recieve the output. It is invisible, but still there. If that won't work, I'm at a loss.

I tried shift-clicking several times, and it appears to work about half of the time. I have no idea what determines whether it works or not, it appears to be random. Thanks for the tip though!

Haven't tried myself, but I'm wondering if a silent update rolled out that messed with this - like maybe another mod (or even an update to EE itself) trying to nerf some of the OP in EE.

It is confirmed, but it has been fixed in an update for 1.5. It was an issue between EE3 & Factorization.

I haven't tried ender to diamond, but I can't get the wood to obsidian working - either normally or with the tricks listed above. How do I update the mod to see if this last fix works for me?

You'll just have to wait until Ultimate updates to 1.5.2, which will need to wait until RP2 updates to 1.5.2, which will need time.

OR

You could make a temporary world on the 1.5 Beta Pack.

Next question: I saw a YouTube tut that had a minium stone, but when the guy hovered over it, the tool-tip pop-up showed how many uses it had left.

 

How can I turn on that durability pop-up in FTB Ultimate?

By pressing F3 + H in any version of Minecraft, FTB or otherwise, you can see the durability of any and all items that have a durability bar. This includes things like Minium Stones and the new GregTech Wrenches/Hammers/etc.

Yeah, I think that was added in... could I say 1.4?

I can't keep track of these updates anymore...

It's definitely been around at least since 1.4, since I use this feature when playing singleplayer Ultimate Pack. Not sure if it's been around for longer than that, as I can't find any mention of how long it's been around or when it was added on the Minecraft Wiki page on Controls or on Version History.
