Front page of the wiki has a section for discontinued packs.

Currently only 2 packs are listed there: FTB Beta pack A and Pax Challenge Map pack.

I think the number of discontinued packs has been growing as new minecraft versions have been released.

Most modders said it's easier to compile a new pack instead of updating all the mods of the older packs (keeping the same ID numbers is a hassle, also simple waiting for 1-2 modders can take a long time). - I think this is pretty clear.

I want to discuss here which packs to move to the discontinued list, because I am not sure about the status of some of them.

Definitely to be moved:

1.5.2 Beta Pack (v0.8)

Feed The Beast Lite (v1.2.2)

Feed The Beast Retro SSP (v3) / SMP (v1)

Not sure about pack's status:

Magic World (v7.2.1)

Tech World (v1.2.1)

YogCraft Pack (v1.0.0)

Slow's Stream Pack (v1.0.0)

Requires discussion:

Feed The Beast Ultimate Pack (v1.1.2)

MindCrack Pack (v8.3.2)

Direwolf20 1.5 Pack (v1.1.3)

The 3 last ones are still used by some players, not sure if we can call them "Discontinued" (they are though), maybe creating an "Archived" section for them would be more reasonable.

I'd certainly move Ultimate/Mindcrack/Dw20 straight to discontinued. No discussion necessary.

They are, so they should be there. The fact people still use them (myself included) shouldn't keep them listed up top.

The information on the modpacks/mods/items would still be available, so I see no reason not to move them to the front page discontinued section.

I believe there was an official blog post at some point stating that everything except for Unleashed, Unhinged and DW20-1.5 is officially discontinued. Don't see the need for any discussion there...

Well, I just think the word "Discontinued" is a bit too harsh, other reasons given in the original post. Alright.

My bad for adding DW20 to the list, didnt realize it was a currently used pack.

What about Slow's stream pack and Yogcraft pack? FTB team isn't responsible for them, but what do their creators say?

No no, there are two DW20 packs. First one is just Direwolf20 and for MC 1.4.something. Second one is Direwolf20 v2/1.5, which is for MC 1.5.something. First one is discontinued, second one still alive.

I think we should stop writing up articles on beta packs, what with them being not technically packs...
Also the Yogcraft, Mindcrack, and Direwolf packs are still used in Youtube videos and we probably shouldn't go writing them off just yet...

As for Ultimate... a LOT of mods are still in 1.5... even though they are two major versions out of date I think the 1.5 modpack Ultimate might be considered not yet discontinued... maybe... maybe?
As you've said, people still use them, we don't want to alienate them...

True... someone elsewhere here called them Legacy packs, I think that is more user-friendly.
