i have downloaded the horizons pack and DW20 but both packs are laggy.  I have allowed 5.75 GB of ram and it still hasnt fixed the problem.  i was wondering if anyone knew how to install optifine in the new launcher?

i installed optifine_1.6.4_HD_U_C7.jar into the edit mods area for the 1.3.0 launcher. there is only 1 area to add mods now so im confussed

 

i launch the pack and the console starts working then the minecraft box opens then a few seconds later they both close and stop working any ideas??

Optifine is not compatible with any 1.6 FTB pack ( https://twitter.com/...486079557730304 ).

Just change the video settings.

Just change the video settings.

That doesn't always help, heavily modded Minecraft is just laggy on older machines.

What are your specs? Sometimes allocating too much RAM is hardly better than allocating too little.

Yeah... I wouldn't allocated 5.75GB of RAM. You only have 162MB for the rest of the whole computer to use, which will create lag!

 

Also, how much lag do you mean when you say 'laggy'? What's the fps?

on 5.75 i can get upto 25 fps but when moving around or looking up to mine it drops as low as 4 fps.  i dropped my render down to short/normal and no change.  i changed it to 2.75GB and it made no difference. what do u suggest?

How much fps do you get on vanilla, and if you've played FTB before, on other packs?

I just tried out Horizons, and I get about 50-60fps, where on vanilla I get about 100-200fps. On 152wgt I get about 60-100fps.

Maybe a tiny render distance, no clouds, no bobbing, openGL, fast graphics, and default FPS or max FPS.
