I'm trying to get much of the Magic World 2 wiki up to date, and I feel like the ability to show the structures that can be built would be really helpful. Perhaps it would have some applications with Twilight Forest and Energy/Matter grids as well? I unfortunately do not have much expertise at all in working on wikis, so if someone could create that template I would really appreciate it.

Heyo. This may be a silly question, but... Do you want an infobox template or a machine/grid template?
The former: http://ftbwiki.org/Template:Tree
The latter: http://ftbwiki.org/T.../Magma_Crucible

In case you need an infobox, I think you can go with a Lua module instead, but that's not a simple solution. I guess @dgelessus knows a thing or two about Lua modules.

A machine-grid template looks closer to what I feel would be ideal, but I was hoping for the appearance that it would take within the Thaumanomicon, with the structure shown isometrically, with gaps between each block. If all else fails I suppose I could construct them in creative mode with gaps, and then screencap that for the site.

At the moment we're just using Thaumonomicon screenshots for Thaumcraft multiblock structures, for other mods we don't have a good solution yet. A grid-like template would probably be possible, though currently I don't have access to a normal computer and decent internet connection, so I won't be able to make one until next week or so.

How would we format the parameters anyway? If we did it like crafting table grids but in 3D it would be quite a mess, even moreso if we went over 3 by 3 by 3.

I was thinking something like

Layer 1 [Boxes]

Layer 2 [Boxes]

Layer 3 [Boxes]

etc...

Not the most elegant, but easy to make, parse, and use.

So one template instance per vertical layer? That makes sense.

Made a mockup:

Guess it's not that hard to do, just need to enter specific grid/image coordinates and you'll get a template. The above was done manually, so it doesn't look as nice as the possible outcome. (Let's hope the length of the line is even).

Thank you so much for helping me, I feel like such a nuisance.

OstPavel's mockup looks perfect, as long as block images could be plugged in easily.

Yeah, those are the "grid" images - our wiki has a strict block/item image size rules, all grid images for blocks and items are 32x32 px. So any block will fit. I think I will also need to add "bottom", "middle" and "top" labels to make it clearer for the user.

PS it is not that hard for me, I like making grid templates :P I am away from my PC so won't be able to implement it until the end of the week. In case anyone wants to try it out - here is the clean GUI: http://i.imgur.com/WSyWHa3.png

Meh, I say we don't need a background at all, especially if we want to have a variable height.

Yeah no background seems the most appropriate.

A month later, ostPavel delivers:
