As you can see, I want to discuss about 3 main topics within this thread :)

The first thing is, I tried to create updated Frontpage Buttons for modpacks, example is given below:

http://www.xup.in/dl...ion_button.jpg/

(Since no image extensions are allowed ???, hard link is given)

I know it's not that great, but better have something than nothing :D

2nd one is an issue at the Frontpage, since sometimes versions are not extracted correctly out of the articles, resulting in:

"FTB Monster v (MC v)"

Also, sometimes the wiki feels very slow and the page reproduction takes a whole while ( > 5 secs).

And the 3rd, IMHO the most important one:

On this page http://ftbwiki.org/F...iki:Style_Guide, you should definitely highlight the Sample Articles.
They are located at the bottom but their aim is to create similar looking articles at the whole wiki so you should stress out it's importance ;)
(I never noticed this page and was looking for it before i started contributing, but i found it 5 mins ago, after i saw it's forum thread)

The buttons are currently being discussed.

The issue with the versions is an issue of caching.

The Style Guides need more of them, see my signature.

To force-update the version numbers, you can use the Refresh link at the right side of the view/edit/history bar. It should be enough to refresh the modpacks in question, then the subpage on which they are listed, and finally the main page.

So if the main buttons are being discussed, why not remove them until the are replaced ?

IMHO it's not very good, because they are eyecatchers but outdated.

Speaking of the main page, any opinions on grouping the packs by MC version rather than official-ness?

So why not temporarily remove them from the frontpage ?

Well, since the FTB team also groups them in their launcher by offical / thirdparties i think it would be better to do it like them ;)

Not sure.

Then just do it ™ ;)

IMHO it's better to have them removed, because then the wiki doesn't look outdated.
(Updated modpacks are located right under these buttons).

Look better removed... even if they were updated you think they would look better without?

I'm pretty sure he's saying they would look better removed if they weren't updated.

if(buttonsOld) {
   if(canReplace) replaceButtons() else removeButtons();
}

if(buttonsOld==false) continue;

Yeah, that sounds nice :)

But anyway, the primary aim of the wiki is to bring knowledge to the potential user who visits the landing page, thus i don't get why no one of you (admins) remove them to list updated modpacks, which are located right under these buttons. IMHO it would be nicer this way, just to fullfill the purpose of the wiki.

So let's suppose someone will remove them until they are updated, would you bring them back to the frontpage while being outdated or would you wait for the updated versions ?

Sadly our button-maker left us and we have been forced to find another route.
