I've been thinking about some comments and remarks I've seen passing by about the new wiki. I'd like to ask you guys what your opinion is about the following.

 

Currently, the default carbon template on the wiki uses the blue header styled titles. But is it too much in some cases? A minor example on the Copper Cable page, shows 2 of those blue headers under each other in the Usage section. Is this too much? Is it unclear? We could for example style the h4-h6 headers differently, in fact, I believe this is already the case for h5.

 

A second question: On the same page, you see the table of contents at the top of the page, should we outlaw these by default in the style guide or are these useful? They can be removed by adding __NOTOC__ to the page (preferable at the end).

The blue headers stands out quite a bit, maybe set it to a darker blue? I dont mind two headers under each other though.

 

having a TOC is useful on longer topics, so you should keep them.

I agree with hippie on the headers. I think the thin version should be used on the major section headers, while the sub section headers should be a bit darker.

 

And as for the Contents table, I think they should only be used for very large pages, such as that one. In smaller pages, though, they are unnecessary.

Agreed. I do think the headers are a bit large.

I think Wikia's headers are quite nice.

Yes I was saying this in the chat a week ago, I think we should maybe keep our current headers as is and then for the subheaders use Wikia's.

 

Or we could always go back to Wikia's and turn our current header design to the header one up, the one that is coded with one equals sign on each side.

Not sure if it's intended, but the last two headers are identical, aside from the horizontal line. And the black text may be a bad thing since this theme is dark.

Header 6 is black for me. Makes it much harder to read. I'm using Google Chrome.

Looks good for me in Chrome... I've made some additional adjustments though.

Technicalities aside, everything but the first header looks fine. The first header is just way too thick, that the words seem to get lost in the middle of the strip.

I think its great! I like it.

It's good, but maybe Header 4 needs to be changed as well. Think about a sort of generic wiki page like Gears with the different types of gears and what they're used for. Maybe it's still too bulky.

 

Also sometimes there's just too much blue.
